School Community

School Community

"It takes a Village to Raise a Child" (African proverb)

St Thomas the Apostle is a welcoming and inclusive school. The sense of community is an important and proud element of our school. We appreciate and encourage parents to build partnerships between school and home and become active participants in their children’s education.

Parent involvement in the school is extensive and encouraged. Parents participate in the school in many ways, both formally, through representation on the Board and Committees, and informally, socially and through assistance both inside and outside the classrooms. The school operates a School Board, a Parents and Friends Committee, a Maintenance Committee, an Out of School Hours Care Program, Parent Class Representatives and a Walking School Bus. St Thomas the Apostle school is highly regarded in the local area for its community spirit. Former students coach a number of netball teams after school hours and there is a very active tennis club. The annual Springtime Fair is well attended and supported by students, ex students, school parents and parishioners.
